Right now I'm behind a few days on the posting, although I have been keeping track of everything in a notepad, as well as keeping up with taking pictures of most of what I eat. I've been feeling a bit off lately, and my schedule has been pretty hectic in preparation for the start of my job. I will do my best to get back up to date on all of the days I missed as fast as possible. Without further ado... Day 8!
After having a tough time getting to bed the night before (due to strangely timed naps as well as just feeling "out of balance"), I woke up early again this morning (at 9:00AM) to attend to some important phone calls. After about an hour of being on the phone, I immediately fell back to sleep. Waking much later in the day (around 1:30PM), I got another very late start, but after drinking my liter of water, my body didn't feel as unbalanced as it had the night before and earlier in the morning. I hadn't eaten earlier when I was awake from 9:00Am-10:00AM, and I still wasn't very hungry right away.
3:30PM
-Green Banana Smoothie w/banana slices-
5 md. Banana 525 cal
1 md. Banana (sliced) 105 cal
3 Cups Mixed Greens 30 cal
2 Cups Ice
Total 660 cal
Since I didn't use much liquid or ice in this smoothie, it only produced 1 liter total which was about two very full glasses. I finished quickly in about 20 minutes.
5:00PM
-Snack-
1 md. Apple 77 cal
2 md. Banana 210 cal
Total 287 cal
I wasn't hungry earlier in the day, but only an hour and a half after eating the pretty large smoothie, I was snacking. I was on my way to my lovely girlfriend, Kaiti's, house, and I figured a little snack for the ride would be a good idea, as I had to stop at the market on the way. The energy provided was sufficient.
7:45PM
-Fruit Salad-
2 md. Apple 144 cal
3 md. Banana 315 cal
4 lg. Strawberry 22 cal
1/2 Mango 67 cal
Total 548 cal
After arriving at Kaiti's and getting settled in, I wasn't too hungry, but I was thirsty. I drank nearly 3/4 of a liter before sitting down and resting. About 30 minutes later, I had the urge for something sweet and lifting, as I was still feeling a little out of balance from such an odd waking and sleeping schedule the past two days. I made this DELICIOUS fruit salad for myself and this smaller, slightly different one for Kaiti.
8:30PM
-Snack-
1 Tbsp. Pumpkin Seeds 40 cal
Just 10 minutes after finishing the fruit salad, I grabbed a small tablespoon sized handful of pumpkin seeds to fully satisfy my stomach.
11:00PM
-Salad-
1 Cup Baby Spinach 10 cal
3 lg. Leaves Romaine 15 cal
1 Cucumber 30 cal
3/4 Avocado 249 cal
Total 294 cal
I hadn't had a nice salad like this in a while. Even though my body still felt a little off all around, I seemed to be eating much more diverse and well-rounded today.
1:30AM
-Green Banana Shake-
5 md. Banana 525 cal
1 md. Banana (sliced) 105 cal
3 Cups Mixed Greens 30 cal
1/4 Cup Water
3 1/2 Cups Ice
1/8 Cup Raisins 55 cal
Total 715 cal
Since I got off to such a late start, I was literally starving come this time. My body chemistry seemed like it was getting worse. When I started making this smoothie, I really wanted a more watery/liquidy drink. After not finding the correct consistency right away, instead of adding more water to get it correct, I decided the thicker, shake like consistency all the ice was giving me was different but worth trying. I switched what I wanted to eat right on the spot: instead of "drinking" my meal, I now wanted to eat/chew it. I think this sudden change came as a result of just feeling "off" today. This drink made a whopping 1.5 liters and I finished all three glasses it produced within 45 minutes.
-Exercise-
Just a 1 mile walk was on the agenda tonight as it was already getting pretty late and just feeling strange made me want to get to bed and start a new day.

Constantly being under on protein levels is causing a bit of a concern for me, which has got me researching other alternative diets. I've stumbled upon some that I can only describe as, almost, hybrid-like, still consisting of a mostly raw intake, yet incorporating other protein appropriate foods. Obviously, I am going to try to work the levels out over the course of the rest of the 30 days, as I am committed to fully experiencing this trial in it's entirety. However, the idea of trying other diets in the future, while still retaining a mostly raw intake percentage, are possibilities I am very open to.
And that concludes Day 8!
