Today I continued to feel even better than the previous day. Much more energy and the desire to get out and get moving! I feel like I'm starting to get back that "kid-drive" to do anything my mind imagines.
1:00PM
-Green Choco-Banana Smoothie w/banana slices & cacao nibs-
2 md. Banana 210 cal
3 lg. Banana 360 cal
2 Cups Mixed Greens 15 cal
1/2 Cup Water
2 Cups Ice (cubed)
4 Tbsp. Cacao Powder 96 cal
3 Tbsp. Cacao Nibs 98 cal
Total 779 cal
You should know by now what to expect for the first meal of the day from me. Everyday thus far it's been a variation on the same green choco-banana smoothie. This one made the usual 1.25 liters, equaling 3 glasses. As standard, the first two went down in 30 minutes, but this time I didn't get around to the last glass until 3:15PM.
5:00PM
-Trail Mix & Apple Snack-
Trail Mix 345 cal
1/2 md. Apple 38 cal
Total 383 cal
I was out doing some more grocery shopping today, so I brought another bag of the Trail Mix from Day 2, as well as some random fresh fruits, eating half an apple alongside the mix of nuts and dried fruit.
6:45PM
-Orange and Banana Snack-
1 lg. Orange 86 cal
1 md. Banana 105 cal
Total 191 cal
Still out and about, I grabbed an orange and a banana I had brought along with me.
10:00PM
-Green Salad-
4 Leaves Romaine 20 cal
1 Cup Mixed Greens 10 cal
1 1/2 Cucumber 45 cal
1 Hass Avocado 322 cal
Total 497 cal
It had been quite a bit of time since the last snack that I ate this salad. I was really hungry, but upon eating it, became surprisingly full. *See "Approximate Daily Totals" section below for why.
11:00PM
-Red Banana-
1 md. Red Banana 70 cal
Until a day ago, I didn't even know these existed. Today, on during my produce shopping, I managed to stumble upon a few bunches of these sitting alongside the traditional yellow bananas. I decided to try them out, as I read they had a sweeter flavor and more creamy texture. I also read that they tend to feel softer than a yellow banana. They seemed a bit on the soft side to me already, so I cracked one open, but it seemed to still not be ripe enough, as it was neither creamier or sweeter than a traditional yellow. I will wait a couple more days before having another in order to correctly assess the taste of these when ripe. I couldn't get a picture of the fruit to really exemplify it's color, so the next time I try one, I'll be sure to get a good one.
1:00AM
-Green Banana Smoothie w/cacao nibs & raisins-
4 md. Banana 420 cal
2 Cups Mixed Greens 15 cal
1/4 Cup Water
2 3/4 Cup Ice
3 Tbsp. Cacao Nibs 98 cal
1/4 Cup Raisins 109 cal
Total 642 cal
I wanted a green smoothie, but wanted something different without making it too fruity. Raisins seemed to add just the right amount of different sweetness that I was looking for, and when combined with the nibs, had a nice crunchy texture. I used both a straw and a spoon to attack this one, and the scoops containing some smoothie, nibs, and raisins reminded me of a standard "Raisin Crunch" cereal. This made just under 1.25 liters, which provided me 3 glasses of greatness while I sat down to do some late night reading. Finished all 3 glasses in about 45 minutes.
-Exercise-
In addition to walking about a mile today while out and about grocery shopping (still with a sore calf), I did about 30 minutes of leg, arm, and back stretching, as well as some general strengthening exercises before bed.

With these numbers, I am now over the desired 80/10/10 ratio in regards to fat. As detailed in a post earlier today, the previous method I was using to calculate percentages was flawed, causing lower than actual percentages for fat totals. Because of this, I was under the impression that I needed to intake more fat. Fortunately, today was the only day in which this flawed concept caused me to go overboard on the fat intake thus far. From now on, having the correct method for calculation at my disposal will provide for more accurate numbers, and we shouldn't see such a drastic increase in this department.
As also mentioned in an earlier post, I would like to gain some weight during this trial, if not, at least retain approximately the same. Overeating fat in regards to the 80/10/10 ratio doesn't bother me at all, especially considering that I'm just going to be trusting what my body is asking for at any given time. It's kinda funny because, when I decided to eat that entire avocado with my salad today, I almost felt like it was too much. As mentioned above, the salad made me surprisingly full for how extremely hungry I had felt before hand. I figured I'd be eating the salad, and possibly a handful of dried fruit or a piece of fresh fruit afterwards to fill the void. After eating the pretty small salad (calorie wise) however, I wasn't very hungry anymore. I think this lack of hunger came from the high fat content found in the avocado.
At this point I really hadn't listened to my body, and afterwards I could tell. Ultimately, this caused me to question the method for calculating the percentages as mentioned above, which led me to the discovery that I was doing things incorrectly all along!
Lesson learned: Listen to your body!
A great learning experience to conclude Day 4!
